West Michigan Whitecaps News Release
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - New Grand Rapids Griffins head coach Curt Fraser, who made a name during his playing career with his rare combination of soft hands and iron fists, will turn those mitts to baseball on Tuesday, Aug. 26 when he throws out the first pitch prior to the West Michigan Whitecaps' game against the Great Lakes Loons at Fifth Third Ballpark.
Fraser's first pitch is set for approximately 6:40 p.m., with the Whitecaps game following at 7 p.m.
During the fourth inning, Fraser is scheduled to pay a visit to the Whitecaps' radio booth to chat with play-by-play announcer Dave Skoczen live on WBBL 1340 AM.
Fraser will make several media appearances this week and play in the 14th Annual Griffins Youth Foundation Golf Classic that will take place this Wednesday, Aug. 27 at Railside Golf Club in Byron Center. He and assistant coach Jim Paek will then prepare to join the Detroit Red Wings' hockey operations staff at the NHL club's annual prospects tournament (Sept. 13-17) and main training camp (Sept. 20-23) in Traverse City, Mich.
