Burlington, IA (Aug 25, 2008) - The Burlington Bees lost their second game in a row as they fell 11-4 to Quad Cities Monday night at Community Field. Kyle Martin hit a homerun for the second day in a row but it was not enough for a win.

For the second time in two days, the Bees' opponent scored all of their runs before the Bees scored at all. Quad Cities scored three runs in the first inning, one in the second, two in the third and five in the fourth to take an 11-0 lead. Luis Cota started for the game and pitched into the fourth inning where he did not record a single out. Cota gave up all but one of the runs scored by Quad Cities. In three innings, he allowed ten runs, nine of which were earned, on eight hits with four strikeouts and three walks.

The Bees did get on the scoreboard in the fourth inning. With two outs, Nick Francis walked. Kyle Martin then came to the plate and hit his eighth homerun of the season to give the Bees their first two runs of the day.

The Bees added one more run in both the sixth and eighth innings. In the sixth, Francis tripled with two outs and then scored on a Martin single. In the eighth, Francis tripled again and scored on a Zach Evangelho single.

The Bullpen did perform well for the Bees. Paul Raglione pitched four innings allowing one run on three hits with two strikeouts and one walk. Tony Bradley pitched 1.2 innings allowing just one hit with one strikeout. Brandon Sisk recorded the final out of the ninth while allowing just a walk.

The Bees had ten hits with Mike Moustakas, Francis, Martin and Evangelho each having two. Both of Francis' hit were triples and it was the first time this season a Bee hit more than one triple in a game. Martin finished the game with three RBI.

The Bees continue the series with Quad Cities Tuesday evening at Community Field. Alex Caldera is the scheduled starter for the Bees. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00. The game can be heard on 1490 KBUR and online at www.GoBees.com. Tickets are still available by logging on to www.GoBees.com or by visiting Community Field.
