Dayton Dragons News Release

Burlington, Iowa-Three Burlington pitchers combined to scatter six hits as the Bees defeated the Dayton Dragons 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Dragons saw their season-high four game winning streak come to an end as their record fell to 16-27. Burlington improved to 17-25 with the win.

The only run of the game came in the first inning against Dragons starting pitcher Josh Ravin (1-6). With one out, Ravin issued back-to-back walks to Fernando Garcia and Eric Hosmer before Nick Francis lined a double off the left field wall to bring in Garcia.

The Dragons had plenty of chances with six hits and five walks but they went a combined 0 for 16 as a team with men on base. The Dragons had base runners in every inning except the third. In the eighth inning, Kyle Day led off with a base hit to right but was erased on a double play. In the ninth, Carlos Mendez led off with a single to center but Humberto Sosa struck out and Frank Pfister grounded into a game-ending double play.

Ravin suffered a hard-luck loss. In five innings, he allowed just two hits and the one run in the first inning with five walks and five strikeouts.

Burlington finished with just three hits in the game after collecting only three on Saturday night in a 5-0 Dragons win.

Dayton will play at Burlington in the finale of the series and the wrap-up to a 10-game road trip on Monday at 3:00 p.m. (EDT). Curtis Partch (2-3, 5.93) will start for the Dragons. The next home game at Fifth Third Field is Tuesday, May 26th vs. the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.

Notes: Dayton's Dave Sappelt extended his hitting streak to seven straight games, going 1 for 3...Ten of the Dragons 27 losses have come by one run. They are 4-10 in one-run games...Dragons relievers have allowed just three earned runs in 27 and two-thirds innings over the last eight games.
