(Burlington-IA)- The Burlington Bees (50-59) dropped the series finale with the Fort Wayne TinCaps (56-52) 5-4 on Thursday night at Community Field in Burlington.

After Austin Robichaux retired the TinCaps in order to start the night, Ayendy Perez led off the bottom of the first inning with a bunt single and then stole second. After David Fletcher walked, Tim Arakawa grounded into a double play, moving Perez to third. With two outs, Steven Mateo extended his hitting streak to six games, grounding a single to right, scoring Perez, giving the Bees a 1-0 lead.

Franmil Reyes started the top of the second inning with a walk and moved to second on a Franchy Cordero single. With runners at second and third and one out, Trae Santos put the TinCaps on the board with a ground out, scoring Reyes, tying the game at one. Fort Wayne took the lead when Edwin Moreno singled to right, scoring Cordero, giving the TinCaps a 2-1 lead.

The TinCaps bats broke out for three more runs in the fifth inning. Ruddy Giron shot a two run home run over the left field wall, upping the lead to 4-1. The next batter, Franmil Reyes, tripled to right and came home to score on a Franchy Cordero single, pushing Fort Wayne's lead to 5-1.

David Fletcher kick started a Bees' rally in the bottom of the fifth inning, lining a single to left. Tim Arakawa then doubled to left, scoring Fletcher. Steven Mateo then singled to right, scoring Arakawa, pulling the Bees to within a pair at 5-3. Trever Allen crushed his fifth homer of the season, bottom of the eighth inning, cutting the TinCaps' lead to 5-4.

Ayendy Perez and Tim Arakawa both reached base in the ninth but were stranded at second and third as the Bees' rally fell short, losing 5-4. Thomas Dorminy (8-7) earned the win while Austin Robichaux (8-6) was charged with the loss, Yimmy Brasoban (6) picked up the save. The Bees host the Lake County Captains Friday night at 6:30.
