Burlington Bees News Release

Dayton, OH - One day after scoring ten runs, the Bees could not muster a single run as they lost at Dayton Sunday afternoon 2-0. With the loss, the Dragons take two out of three from the Bees during the weekend series at Fifth Third Field.

The two teams played scoreless baseball through the first four innings as both Bees starting pitcher Ed Cegarra and Dragons starter Scott Carroll were very good. Cegarra only had one true blemish, which ended up costing him the game. In the fifth inning, after getting the first two batters out, Brett Bartles singled and then Justin Reed hit a homerun to give the Dragons the 2-0 lead. Cegarra ended up pitching six innings allowing two runs on three hits with a season-high nine strikeouts and no walks.

The Bees threatened many times but could never score a run. They even loaded the bases in the ninth but could not come up with the big hit.

The Bees outhit the Dragons 7-4. Adrian Ortiz and Mike Moustakas each had two hits. With his first hit, Ortiz extended his hitting streak to 15 games. Both Yensi Lopez and Tony Bradley pitched an inning of scoreless baseball.

The Bees continue their road trip Monday evening at Ft. Wayne. Joe Augustine will get the start for the Bees against the Wizards as the teams open a three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 and the game can be heard on 1490 KBUR and online at www.GoBees.com. The team will return to Community Field for four games against Beloit beginning Thursday May 8th.
