Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Alaska goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu has been named the RBC Financial Group ECHL Saver of the Month for October.

Originally selected in the fifth round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft by the St. Louis Blues, Beckford-Tseu stopped 52 of 53 shots last week to run his record to 3-0 with a microscopic 1.33 goals against average, best in the ECHL. He also ranks fifth in the league with a .949 save percentage and only Idaho's Matthew Yeats has more wins. After playing junior hockey in the OHL, Beckford-Tseu went 11-12-3 with a 2.71 GAA for Peoria (at that time an ECHL member, now Alaska's AHL affiliate) last year, his first as a pro. He likely will make his next start Saturday in Salt Lake City, as the Aces meet the Utah Grizzlies (formerly members of the AHL) for the first time ever.

Alaska will enter that series with a record of 4-1-1, three points behind still-unbeaten Idaho (6-3 winners at Phoenix Thursday) in the West Division. Both tomorrow's game and Saturday's rematch will begin at 5:05 p.m. AST, with the Aces staying on the road for a three-game series against the Steelheads beginning Wednesday, November 9, that could see first place on the line.

All games, home and away, will be broadcast live on KFQD AM 750 and at www.alaskaaces.com. This weekend's games will not be available on a pay-per-view basis on the internet, but B2 Networks will broadcast the Idaho series.
