HAMILTON, ON - Francois Beauchemin scored at the 4:59 mark of overtime to give the Hamilton Bulldogs a 2-1 win over the visiting Syracuse Crunch at Copps Coliseum on Wednesday night. The Bulldogs victory snaps a six-game winless streak.

Marcel Hossa opened the scoring for the Bulldogs at the 15:52 mark of the second period. Alexander Perezhogin and Ron Hainsey earned assists on the power-play goal.

The Crunch evened the game 1-1 in the third period at 14:03, as Lasse Pirjeta earned his first goal of the season. Adding assists on the goal were Kent McDonell and Zenith Komarniski.

Beauchemin would win the game in overtime with a point shot that deflected off a Syracuse defender and into the Crunch net.

Beauchemin's goal at the 4:59 mark of overtime ties a Bulldogs record for latest goal scored in a regular season game. The original record was set on December 18th, 1998 when Jeff Daw scored at 4:59 of extra time at Providence.

In goal, Bulldogs goaltender Jean-Francois Damphousse stopped 30 of the 31 shots he faced on the night. Damphousse, who was named the game's first star, made his first start since January 3rd. Karl Goehring suffered the loss for the Crunch despite making 48 saves.

The Hamilton Bulldogs next action will take place on Friday, March 5th at 7:05 p.m. when they visit the Cleveland Barons at the Gund Arena. Bulldogs fans can listen to Derek Wills call all the action, beginning with the pre-game show at 6:55 p.m. on 820 CHAM-AM and on-line at www.hamiltonbulldogs.com.
