
Beatty Leads Roadrunners Past Thunder

EDINBURG, Texas---Edinburg Roadrunners third baseman C.J. Beatty went 2-for-5 with four runs driven in and two runs scored leading the Roadrunners past the McAllen Thunder 6-2 Saturday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
Beattty got the scoring started in the bottom of the third when he hit a two-run double that allowed Robert Matlock and R.J. Harris to score. A fielding error then allowed Beatty to score giving Edinburg (12-16) the 3-0 lead.
The Thunder (13-15) answered back in the top of the fourth with a pair of runs off of Edinburg starter Scott Wingo (2-2). A fielding error allowed Yaibel Tamayo and Mike Goss to score cutting the Roadrunners lead 3-2.
The score remained the same until the bottom of the eighth when Beatty hit a two-run triple scoring Matlock and Adam Gordon from second and first. Beatty then came into score on wild pitch that pushed Edinburg's lead to 6-2.
Mike Schurz and Julio Castro pitched a perfect eighth and ninth innings giving Edinburg the 6-2 victory.
Wingo picked up his second win of the season after allowing two runs, none of which were earned, in seven innings while striking out six.
The Roadrunners and Thunder will play a double-header Sunday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium with game on starting at 6:05 p.m. The double-header will consist of two seven inning ball games.
