Traverse City Beach Bums News Release


The Traverse City Beach Bums are on the road for the next six games, but the promotions staff is busy planning for the next home series against the River City Rascals of O'Fallon, Missouri.

On Tuesday, June 13 the first thousand fans through the gates receive a free Beach Bums logo baseball and one lucky fan will take home $1,000 (scratch card contest open to licensed drivers, 21 and over.)

On Wednesday, June 14 the first thousand fans through the gates receive a wood bat pen compliments of Comerica Bank.

Thursday June 15 is an extra special night. The Traverse City Beach Bums present "Beach Party Thursday" on June 15, 2006, (and again on June 22, 2006.) While watching the Beach Bums play fans can enjoy beach music and contests under the sun, and can hang with the official mascots of the Beach Bums, Suntan and Sunburn, who will be dressed in their Beach Party gear! The first 1,000 fans will receive souvenir Beach Bums sunglasses on June 15 and the first 500 fans will receive beach towels on June 22.

Survivor fans will be able to get their favorite castaway's autograph Thursday night before the Beach Bums game from 5:00 - 6:45 PM. Twenty former CBS Survivor participants will be at Wuerfel Park to meet and greet fans on Thursday and then will return Friday night (7:00 start) to play local celebrities in a Charity Softball Game. Ticket proceeds will go to benefit Rupert's Kids and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Game time on all three midweek Beach Bums games is is 7:05 PM with the stadium gates opening at 5:00 PM.

The Beach Bums have also teamed up with the local Salvation Army, and will be holding a summer clothing drive on June 15, 2006, (and again on June 22, 2006.) Beach Bums fans are invited to bring their old summer clothing to the game to be donated. With their devotion to rehabilitating individuals through work therapy, the Salvation Army has made an impact on many lives. Additionally, 100 percent of proceeds from their thrift stores go directly toward these rehabilitating programs.

The Traverse City Beach Bums are currently second in the Frontier League East Division with a 6-6 record. In the six home games, 23,717 fans have seen the Beach Bums play at Wuerfel Park, an average nightly attendance of 3,953, which is second only to the Gateway Grizzlies (3,367). Won't you join us?
