River City Rascals News Release

CHILLICOTHE, OH - The River City Rascals made a statement that they belong in the same conversation with Chillicothe as one of the most feared offenses in the Frontier League after crushing the Paints from V.A. Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe, OH by a score of 15-3. The Rascals set new season-highs in runs scored and hits when they finished the evening with 19 base-hits. Eddie Kim went 5-for-5 with his league-leading 4th homer of the season, scored a pair of runs, and drove in a season-high four as River City dominated the team that heading into the game had the league's best record.

After walking in the 1st inning, Kim began his hit parade by singling in the third off of Chillicothe starter Jacob Hines. He executed a perfect hit and run play in the 4th inning moving Kirk McConnell to third base with a single to right and later came around to score on a base hit by Geoff Desmond. Kim would then walked in the fifth and drove in his first run with an RBI single in the 6th that scored Anthony Slagle with the Rascals' 10th run of the game. After a leadoff double off of Paints reliever Marshall Plouffe in the 8th, Kim would add an exclamation point to his evening by homering to deep right field with two runners on to give River City their highest run total of the season.

Kirk McConnell also had his best game since making his return to the Rascals lineup. The LF had four hits including a double in seven at-bats along with two RBIs and three runs scored. Every player on Randy Martz's lineup card had at least one hit and all but one scored at least on run against Chillicothe. Starting catcher Jon Marshall and CF Anthony Slagle each had multi-hit games for the Rascals.

Brian Keating received plenty of run support in winning his second straight game away from T.R. Hughes Ballpark. The southpaw pitched the first six innings scattering eight hits and allowing two earned runs. The O'Fallon, MO native also struck out five while only walking two to match Aaron Ledbetter as the only Rascals starters with 2-0 records.

The Rascals will try to make it two in a row against the first place Paints in game two of their series Thursday night, June 8th, at 6:05 and you can hear all the action on 100.7 FM, KFNS. The team returns home for a weekend series against the Evansville Otters on Saturday, June 10th. It will be Batter Up to Fight Breast Cancer Night sponsored by Johnny Mac's and the Suburban Journals. The Rascals will wear pink uniforms which will be raffled off at the conclusion of the ballgame. For tickets, call (636) 240-2287 or visit them online at www.rivercityrascals.com.
