London Rippers News Release

TRAVERSE CITY, MICHIGAN - Yohan Gonzalez tossed seven strong innings, but the offense couldn't get going as London (14-21) dropped a 2-1 decision to Traverse City (23-12).

Gonzalez (3-2) only allowed two runs in his effort, one earned, walking two and striking out five.

However, Traverse City starter, David Deminsky (4-1) was equally as strong, giving up one run on five hits through six innings.

The Beach Bums bullpen stepped up to throw three innings of no-hit ball, issuing one walk and striking out three to silence London.

Chase Burch's RBI double in the 1st opened the scoring for Traverse City at 1-0.

They added another run in the 3rd when Kyle Eveland snuck home while Brian Heere was caught in a run down between second and third base. Rippers' second baseman, Brad Agustin, was injured on the play and left the game.

London brought their only run in with two outs in the 6th .

David Christensen doubled for his second hit of the game, his first multi-hit game since June 10. Mark Samuelson followed up with a single to shrink the deficit to 2-1.

London and Traverse City will finish off their three-game set tomorrow night before the Rippers head home to start another 6-game home stand.

Matt Schimpf (2-1 2.84) gets the ball for London against Brooks Belter (3-0 3.48).
