Kane County Cougars News Release
GENEVA, IL - The summer may be coming to an end soon, but the Kane County Cougars are still rolling with fun-packed events and entertainment at the ballpark! Beginning this weekend on Sunday, August 7 with Jimmy Buffett Day, the excitement spreads through the month of August with Jake and Dick Leinenkugel Day, Ozzie the Cougar's Birthday Party, Rollin' Back the Clock Night and Bark in the Park.
Jimmy Buffett Day: Sunday, August 7 at 2:00 p.m.
The Cougars are cooking up some summer fun, not to mention a few cheeseburgers in paradise, as the team hosts the second annual Jimmy Buffet Day at the ballpark. Speaking of burgers, all hamburgers and cheeseburgers Sunday afternoon will be only $3.00 at the Cougars grills and concession stands. Fans are invited to participate in the day's events by dressing in their favorite beach bum attire, competing in one of our themed on-field events or attending the post-game concert performed by the Chicago-based Mr. Myers Band. The team will be sporting tropical jerseys and caps, as they look to extinguish the Dayton Dragons (Cincinnati Reds Affiliate) in the 2:00 p.m. game.
Jake and Dick Leinenkugel Day: Tuesday, August 9 at 6:30 p.m.
Two of the three Leinenkugel brothers that created a beer empire will be in attendance on Tuesday evening participating in a variety of events at Elfstrom Stadium from throwing out a first pitch and participating in between-inning events to going live on air with Cougars radio broadcaster Jeff Hem. The brothers are set to host a party on the right field deck, Leinie's Lodge, and be available to fans for pictures and autographs at select times throughout the night.
Ozzie the Cougar's 15th Birthday Party: Monday, August 15 at 7:00 p.m.
After 15 seasons of helping make thousands of birthdays special at the ballpark, it's finally time to celebrate his own. The Cougars will be honoring their favorite furry friend, Ozzie T. Cougar for his 15th birthday with traditional birthday games and festivities. Cake will be served, balloons will be hung and pin the tail on the donkey will be played. Ozzie has asked that in lieu of gifts for the special occasion that donations be made to Toys for Tots and the U.S. Marine Corps. On hand throughout the evening, the U.S. Marine Corps will be collecting new and unwrapped toys for children ages 2 to 16, which will be used during the upcoming holiday season. Continuing with the 15th Anniversary festivities, regular hot dogs, small Pepsi products and Old Wisconsin bratwursts will be $1.50 at the concession stands.
15th Anniversary Rollin' Back the Clock Night: Thursday, August 18 at 6:30 p.m.
The Cougars are traveling back to a time when Vanilla Ice was hot, 90210 spanned the globe and box seats to a Cougars game were $5.00. On Thursday evening, the Cougars will be dropping all ticket prices to 1991 prices, including $6.00 Field Box seats (did not exist in 1991), $5.00 Box seats, $4.00 Reserved seats and $3.00 Lawn seats. These Prices are valid on all future purchases (both advance sales and day of game sales); however, they are not valid for previously purchased tickets. There are no restrictions on the number of tickets that can be purchased. Once inside the park, regular hot dogs, small Pepsi products and Old Wisconsin bratwursts will be $1.50 at the concession stands for the final time this season.
Bark in the Park: Monday, August 22 at 7:00 p.m.
There's nothing ruff about a night out the ballpark, especially with a special K-9 companion. The Cougars fourth annual Bark in the Bark is set for Monday night. Pups and their pals are invited to participate in a pre-game parade and even run the bases following the night's match-up between the Cougars and the Beloit Snappers. Receiving exclusive seating in the first base lawn area, dogs and their owners also will be treated to dog snack samples and a special cooling area. The team plans to award prizes to the largest, smallest and best dressed dogs later in the evening.
