Summer of Injuries Continues

Dayton, OH - OF B.J. Szymanski has been placed on the DL and will most likely miss the remainder of the 2005 season after breaking the fifth Metacarpal bone in his left hand. The injury, known as a "boxer's break" occurred during Wednesday nights 13-8 loss to the Fort Wayne Wizards at Fifth Third Field. This is the second time in 2005 that Szymanski has been on the DL. The Reds second round selection in the 2004 First Year Player Draft missed 54 games between April 14th and June 7th following arthroscopic knee surgery. In 50 games with the Dragons in 2005, the switch hitter posted a .262 average with 10 home runs, 26 runs batted in and seven stolen bases. The Dragons active roster currently sits at 24.
