TRAVERSE CITY, MI - Scott Woodward blasted a three-run home run and Ian MacDougall shut down the Frontier Greys over seven innings as the Traverse City Beach Bums cruised to a 7-0 victory on Friday night at Wuerfel Park.

Woodward's three-run shot off of Brandon Rhode turned a 3-0 game into a 6-0 contest in the last of the fourth with his third long ball of the year. TC had jumped out on top with three runs in the last of the second inning.

Sean Gusrang led off the second with a double and was immediately brought in on a Greg Harisis single. Jake Rhodes followed with a single before Josh Miller laid down a bunt single that the Greys third baseman threw away, allowing Harisis to scamper home, making it 2-0. Rhodes would end up scoring on a passed ball for the third run of the inning.

Rhodes and Miller combined for the seventh and final run of the day for the Beach Bums with Rhodes doubling and Miller singling him home with two outs in the last of the fifth. Miller posted his first three-hit game as a Beach Bum, going 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

MacDougall (6-3) took the run support and ran with it, picking up his third straight win. The southpaw worked out of jams in the first couple innings, but settled down to fire seven scoreless innings while scattering seven hits. He ended up striking out six in his fifth quality start of the year.

Cam Giannini and Nate O'Bryan put up zeros in the eighth and ninth, respectively, to finish the game off for the Beach Bums. Rhode (7-4) took the loss for the Greys by allowing all seven runs on 11 hits in five innings.

With back-to-back series victories under its belt, Traverse City now hits the road for a three-game series against the Washington Wild Things. Casey Delgado (6-3, 2.84) will start for the Beach Bums while the Wild Things will go with Shawn Blackwell (8-4, 3.64). First pitch on Saturday is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Fans can listen to the broadcast starting at 6:45 p.m. on Classic Rock the Bear 98.1/107.1 and classicrockthebear.com.
