Rockford Aviators News Release
LOVES PARK, IL - Not much went right for Aviators pitching tonight as the Lake Erie Crushers routed the Aviators 12-1 at Aviators Stadium.
Josh Slaats got the start tonight for the Aviators and earned his fourth loss in his last five starts as he pitched just three innings and allowed six runs on five hits while walking five and striking out just one batter.
Five of the six Aviators pitchers recorded a walk tonight as the team registered a new season-high single game record thirteen walks. The team also hit three batters, issuing a total of sixteen free passes.
The Lake Erie Crushers had just as many hits as they did walks tonight as they scored at least one run in six of the nine innings tonight.
After scoring four runs in the top of the second inning, the Crushers had the bases loaded again in the top of the third and had already scored two runs before Elijah Trail recorded a triple-play to end the inning and escape with minimal damage.
The lone run for the Aviators came in the bottom of the fifth inning as Edgar Corcino sent a RBI sacrifice fly into center field that allowed Kyle Dhanani to score from third base as the Aviators avoided the shut-out.
Dusty Robinson had another big game for the Aviators tonight as he went 3-4 with two doubles.
The Aviators will be back in action tomorrow night on the road against the Schaumburg Boomers. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and fans can listen to the broadcast on the Meridix Network. The link to the broadcast can be found at www.rockfordaviators.com.
