Akron RubberDucks News Release
AKRON -- The Akron Aeros (43-30) managed only one run on four hits against the Bowie Baysox (39-35), who scored twice in the top of the third, earning its first win of the four-game weekend series on Sunday afternoon at Canal Park. Baysox starter Chris Waters pitched 8 1/3 innings giving up just one run in the third on a RBI-single by Asdrubal Cabrera.
Waters (4-5) walked two and struck out only one, though Akron could not seem to find any holes in the defense. Akron starter, Shawn Nottingham (5-5) pitched well going seven innings allowing two runs on four hits. He struck out four and walked only one.
In the third, Nottingham gave up an RBI-single to Ruddy Yan and a sacrifice fly to Luis Hernandez. It was all the scoring Bowie could manage, but it was enough to end Akron's three-game winning streak.
The Aeros and the Baysox will close out their series on Monday night at 7:05 p.m. at Canal Park. Akron will look to take three of four from Bowie and end the seven-game home stand with a record of 5-2.
