New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
Manchester, NH - 3B Andrew Pinckney and DH Jeff Natale homered to back up the 5-hit pitching of knuckleballer Charlie Zink as the Portland Sea Dogs beat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 8-3 Sunday afternoon at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.
A crowd of 7,837, the third largest in franchise history, turned out for the contest. The first three games of the series have drawn a record 22,811 as the Fisher Cats have set attendance records for a second straight weekend.
RHP Charlie Zink (7-2) worked the first six innings for Portland (36-34), allowing only sixth inning RBI singles by 3B Rob Cosby and 1B Chip Cannon (2-for-3). RHP Kyle Jackson worked the final three innings to record his first save of the year. CF Dustin Majewski homered in the bottom of the ninth for the third run for the Fisher Cats (39-34).
Portland built a 5-0 lead against starter and loser Kurt Isenberg (2-4). Andrew Pinckney hit a solo home run in the second inning, DH Jeff Natale hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning and C John Otness and 2B Iggy Suarez had RBI's in the 6th inning.
Leading 5-2, 1B Eric Crozier hit a double with the bases loaded in the 7th inning to drive in three more runs, the RELCO Enlightening Play of the Game. Crozier has 9 RBI's in the first three games of the series.
New Hampshire LF Aaron Mathews went 0-for-4, failing to extend his hit streak beyond a franchise-tying 16 games.
The series concludes Monday night at 7:05pm against the Portland Sea Dogs. RHP Clay Buchholz (5-2, 1.82) starts for Portland against New Hampshire LHP Ricky Romero (0-1, 4.42).
