BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox announce today the Matt Wieters Gold Glove Bobblearm Giveaway as the Baysox take on the Erie SeaWolves at Prince George's Stadium Wednesday, August 15, at 7:05 p.m. The first 500 fans ages 13 and up will receive the bobbling rendition of the current Baltimore Orioles and former Baysox catcher to celebrate the fantastic season he had behind the plate in 2011.

Baysox Assistant General Manager Phil Wrye is looking forward to hosting this event. "Wieters was fantastic in Bowie, so it's great to be able to honor him on this night," Wrye said. "This is not the first time we have given away a Matt Wieters bobblehead, but we wanted to do something special to celebrate his Gold Glove achievement and this unique bobblearm collectible is the perfect way to do that."

Wieters has been in the Orioles organization since he was drafted fifth overall in 2007 out of Georgia Tech University. He played in 61 games for the Baysox, batting .365 with 12 homeruns, while throwing out 32% of base stealers. Wieters made his major league debut in 2009 and has been in the top five for fielding percentage for catchers in his first two full years. This resulted in him winning a Gold Glove after the 2011 season.

The bobblehead specifically celebrates Wieters' outstanding defensive season in 2011 with a catcher's mitt painted gold. The catcher is positioned as if he is about to make a throw and both his head and right arm bobble.

Baysox Baseball - We'll Knock Your 'Sox Off. The Baysox 20th season is winding down. Don't miss your chance to celebrate this milestone with the team. Parking is free at every Baysox home game and tickets are available at www.baysox.com, or by calling the Baysox box office at (301) 464-4865.
