MOBILE, Ala. - Sean Thompson twirled eight innings at Hank Aaron Stadium Tuesday night, allowing the Montgomery Biscuits only two hits in his masterful 7-2 win.

The Biscuits did get a run out of each hit, but it wasn't nearly enough to stem the tide of Mobile's 14-hit attack.

In the first inning, Elliot Johnson led off the game for the Biscuits with a solid single to right. He stole second, advanced to third on a failed pickoff attempt by Thompson, then scored on a Delmon Young sacrifice fly.

But Young was the second in a string of 13 straight retired by Thompson, who held the Biscuits scoreless until Rico Washington crashed a moonshot solo home run in the seventh inning (his 10th).

By then, the BayBears already had the game well in hand. Mobile had tied it with a Paul McAnulty double in the first inning and then hung four on Biscuits starter Scott Autrey in the following inning, including a solo homer by Greg Sain, a two-run single by Ronnie Merrill and a McAnulty RBI single.

Autrey allowed single tallies in the fifth and sixth before departing. Reliever Chris Flinn threw two scoreless innings, striking out five.

Thompson's win was his first at double A.

The Biscuits are now in fourth in the division, five games back with five games to go.

The rubber game of the series is Wednesday morning at 11:35. Montgomery righty Jamie Shields (0-2) will pitch.
