
Smokies offer perfect Father's Day opportunity

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies return home Thursday night for a four game series against the Carolina Mudcats highlighted by the opportunity for fathers to play catch with their children on the field before the game on Sunday.
Kids and their dads will be allowed onto the field on Father's Day from 4 to 4:30 p.m. to play catch. First pitch against the Mudcats is set for 5 p.m. Sunday.
Sunday is also Cancer Survivor and Awareness night at Smokies Park. Cancer survivors and their families will receive a ticket discount at the gate. The University of Tennessee will be giving tours of their new mobile mammography unit and Medic will be here for people who wish to donate blood. A special "Chain of Survivors" will occur on the field at 4:30 p.m. and is sponsored by the American Cancer Society.
Thursday night is Pilot Prize night. Everyone receives a winning scratch off card with prizes ranging from free snacks to a guaranteed $100 in free gas. One lucky fan might win up to $1,000 in free gas at Pilot Food Marts.
Tennessee and Carolina tangle in game two of the series to kick-off the weekend on a Fireworks Friday, sponsored by Pepsi, Miller Lite, WIVK and WVLT-TV. Friday night will also feature Star Wars characters in costume roaming the concourse at Smokies Park.
Crowd favorite Myron Noodleman returns to the Smokies for the first time in 2005, the first of two appearances this season, on Saturday night. Tennessee is offering a double dip on June 18th. The Smokies are also giving away baseballs, sponsored by Tennessee State Bank.
Saturday's game is also the first of three Smokies' television appearances. Matt Stewart of Comcast Sports Southeast joins Tennessee's Tom Hart on the small screen for the match up with Carolina.
