Mississippi Braves News Release
Residents in a small town in Central Mississippi have reported what could be one of the most bizarre sightings since the loch ness monster and Sasquatch. Confidential sources at the Gifted Mascot Center in Atlanta have confirmed their newest Professional Grade protégé is among the three mascots reported missing. Mr. and Mrs. Ippi, two of the three, showed up at Trustmark Park, Home of the Mississippi Braves, in Pearl, MS earlier this week. It is said that the third, yet to be named mascot, could possibly be heading in that direction as well. First accounts were that the creature had been mascot-napped. Further research indicated the mascot, model GM1, had been despondent at the loss of his two blue furry friends. For this reason, the search is leading investigators to the city of Pearl located in central Mississippi.
In what could be a related incident, a local GMC dealership contacted authorities at the CDC (Center for Discovery of Creatures) after an employee uncovered, literally, what he described as a large red fur ball. He went to lift what was thought to be a blanket in the cab of a 2005 GM Yukon Denali and was surprised to find the creature curled up on the seat. He said he wasn't sure who was more spooked him or the blur of fur he last saw traveling east on I-20.
The Pearl PD responded to several calls from residents who claimed to have seen something in the woods adjacent to Trustmark Park. The only evidence to corroborate their stories was a large paw print and what could only be described as red fur. A second eyewitness account spotted what looked to be a "Big Foot" in the woods behind her home. Her neighbor reported that she thought she was mistaken when a GMC Yukon pulled along side her at the intersection of Pearson Road and Riverwind Drive, but after hearing all the buzz she is now sure that she saw the mascot.
A long-time Rankin County resident describes the creature as being about 6 feet tall, covered in red fur, he couldn't be sure but he thought it was wearing a GMC t-shirt. Originally it was assumed the shirt was taken from the Gifted Mascot Center but later a mechanic at the local GMC dealership came forward and said he laid his shirt down for a second and when he turned around it was gone, a tuft of red fur left in its place.
The mascot was caught on camera at the Highway 80 branch of Trustmark Bank. He looked to be trying to get money from the ATM. Hours later he was seen entering the back gate at Trustmark Park. Fans have seen glimpses of the mascot around the park. An employee for the stadium admitted photographing the creature napping in one of the suites, she wouldn't comment on which suite. However, this is what ultimately lead to the apprehension of the mascot. Other amateur photographs began surfacing later in the day. This has been one busy mascot.
In an attempt to put an end to all the controversy, Steve DeSalvo, General Manager for the Mississippi Braves, stated the mascot is now in protective custody at the Pearl Police Department. A spokesperson for the Pearl Police Department says the mascot was merely taken in for questioning, when the mascot was asked what he was doing in the suite he told them absolutely nothing. The Mississippi Braves and the local GMC dealership have partnered in adopting this loveable creature who will reside at Trustmark Park, but they need a fitting name.
