
BayBears Hold Back Smokies, 6-3

Mobile, Ala.- Rico Washington and Jake Gautreau each hit two-run home runs and powered Mobile (25-25, 54-64) past Tennessee (29-20, 64-55) 6-3 Monday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.
Washington's blast came in the first inning against Chris Narveson (L, 3-1), handing the left-hander is first Southern League loss. Gautreau's fifth inning homer put Mobile up 6-0.
Roger Deago (W, 8-7) scattered four hits over five shutout innings for the win.
Tennessee rallied against J.J. Trujillo in the eighth, scoring three times on RBI singles by Caonabo Cosme and Chris Weekly. Bryan Gaal entered with two men on and struck out pinch-hitter Bucky Jacobsen to finish the inning. Gaal worked around two ninth inning singles for his second save of the season.
The Smokies continue their 12-game road trip with a four game series at Orlando beginning Tuesday night. Nick Stocks (9-6, 4.45) will start against Scott Autrey (2-3, 3.51) in the first game.
