Rays and Mudcats Washed Out Again

August 11, 2003 - Southern League (SL1)
Orlando Rays News Release

Zebulon, N.C. -- Monday's Southern League doubleheader between the Orlando Rays and the Carolina Mudcats was postponed due to wet field conditions at Five Country Stadium. The doubleheader had been scheduled to make up Sunday's game, which was postponed by rain. Tonight's postponed games are tentatively scheduled to be made up as parts of doubleheaders during the teams' final regular-season meeting, August 29 - September 1 in Orlando. Orlando returns home to kick off an eight-game homestand, starting Tuesday night at 7:05 when the Tennessee Smokies invade Cracker Jack Stadium. Orlando righty Jim Magrane (8-6, 3.59) will take the hill in the series opener, while Tuesday's game will also give Orlando fans their first look at 2002 no. 2 overall draft pick B.J. Upton. The 18-year-old Upton was promoted to Orlando on August 1, while the team was in the midst of a 12-game road trip. Upton is currently hitting .290 with one home run, four RBI and six runs scored in his eight games with the Rays.
