Louisville Bats News Release
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Bats will be hosting a Redbirds reunion during the game Saturday, July 7 to celebrate the more than 30 years since the return of professional baseball to Louisville. The current team will be wearing 1982 Redbirds jerseys and hats. Posters commemorating the event will be distributed to fans at the gates. First pitch against the Toledo Mud Hens will be at 6:05 p.m.
Several former Louisville Redbirds players, including Bill Lyons, will be available to the media beginning at 6:30 p.m. Friday evening at Louisville Slugger Field. Lyons is the Redbirds/Bats franchise leader in games (544) and runs scored (280), appearing with the team every year between 1982 and 1988. He is perhaps best-known for playing all nine positions in his final game as a Redbird in 1988.
