Rochester Red Wings News Release

ROCHESTER, NY - The Minnesota Twins today optioned first baseman Chris Parmelee to the Rochester Red Wings. The Twins also selected the contract of righthander Samuel Deduno. Red Wings' righthander Deolis Guerra has been placed on the 7-Day Disabled List with right shoulder tendinitis and righthander Dan Sattler has been transferred to Rochester from Double-A New Britain.

Parmelee appeared in just 11 games (four starts) for the Twins after being recalled from Rochester June 7. He went 5-for-19 (.263) with two homers and two RBI in his second stint with the big league club. The 24-year-old opened the season with the Twins and was optioned to Rochester May 15. He is batting .194 with two homers and five RBI in 38 games overall with Minnesota. Parmelee batted .375 with four homers and 12 RBI in 15 games during his first stint with the Red Wings.

Deduno went 1-2 with a 2.14 ERA in nine starts with the Red Wings. He went 1-1 with a 1.04 ERA (3 ER/26.0 IP) in five starts after returning from the 7-Day Disabled List June 7. He missed a month and a half of the season with right shoulder tendinitis. The 29-year-old is the 12th Red Wing, the seventh pitcher, to make the jump to the Twins.

Guerra, who started the season with New Britain, went 1-2 with a 4.91 ERA in 18 appearances with the Red Wings. He allowed 13 runs in 11.2 innings in his last seven games. The 23-year-old hasn't pitched since June 28 at Lehigh Valley (Phillies). Guerra was acquired in 2008 in the Johan Santana trade.

Sattler became the second player ever signed by the Twins from the independent St. Paul Saints on May 29. The first was Red Wings' lefthander Caleb Thielbar, who signed last August. Sattler went 1-0 with one save and a 2.03 ERA in five appearances with New Britain after starting his Twins' career with three appearances at Single-A Fort Myers.
