Modesto Nuts News Release
Stockton, C.A. - Heath Fillmyer and a pair of Stockton Ports relievers sent the Nuts to a 7-0 loss at Banner Island Ballpark on Friday night.
Heath Fillmyer (W, 3-1) allowed just two singles to the Nuts (11-17) offense. Wes Rogers had a two-out single in the first. Omar Carrizales recorded a one-out single in the sixth and that was it. Fillmyer worked six shutout frames with five K's. The Ports (12-16) sent two arms out of the 'pen that combined to toss three hitless innings to close the game.
Sam Howard (L, 1-1) struggled with his command in three-plus innings of work. The Nuts' starter walked six and allowed six total runs, only four of which were earned.
Game two of the three-game set is set for 7:15 p.m. on Saturday night at Banner Island Ballpark. Coverage on ModestoNuts.com will start at 7:10 p.m. Listen live online. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
