LANCASTER, CA - 1B Rudy Flores homered twice and drove in four as the Visalia Rawhide (21-7) doubled up the Lancaster JetHawks (10-16) 14-7 at The Hangar on Friday night.
Flores connected for home runs seven and eight of the season, which places him second in the California League after tonight and his four RBIs, give him 28 for the season, which puts him atop the leaderboard for the category.
LF Grant Heyman banged one out of the park as well, his first of the season, as the Rawhide smashed four home runs in the game one win. Heyman added a season high three RBIs in the winning effort.
The scoring began early and continued often for Visalia against RHP Brock Dykxhoorn (1-1, 4.18), when the duo of Flores and Heyman began the scoring with an RBI single each. DH Henry Castillo had an RBI groundout sandwiched in-between and it was a 3-0 Rawhide lead.
A three-run lead turned into a six-run lead in the second inning when RF Victor Reyes singled. 3B Domingo Leyba joined the party with a two-run home run and Flores went deep right after to complete the three-run barrage in the frame.
In Dykxhoorn's final inning, the fourth, 2B Cody Regis tripled and Flores struck again, taking Dykxhoorn deep for the second time and it handed Visalia the 8-0 lead.
Meanwhile RHP Brad Keller (2-1, 3.65), turned in his fourth consecutive quality start, pitching six innings and giving up four runs (three earned) on five hits, three walks and he logged six strikeouts in the win.
