SAN JOSE, CA - Steven Duggar hit a tiebreaking two-out, two-run triple in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift the San Jose Giants to a 6-4 win over the Lake Elsinore Storm on Friday night at Municipal Stadium. The series-opening victory extended San Jose's (15-11) win streak to a season-high five games.

Duggar (1-for-3, 3B, 2 RBI), C.J Hinojosa (1-for-3, 2 RBI) and Chris Shaw (1-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI) each drove in two runs to lead the Giants offensively. Ronnie Jebavy (2-for-3) added two singles and scored three runs.

The Giants built a 4-1 lead after three innings before Lake Elsinore rallied to tie the game. The Storm scored single runs in the fifth, seventh and eighth innings to draw even at 4-4 before San Jose moved back in front. The pivotal eighth-inning rally for the Giants began with a leadoff walk to Jebavy. After Hinojosa dropped down a sacrifice bunt to move Jebavy to second, Shaw walked. Aramis Garcia followed with a slow grounder to third that saw the Storm force out Shaw at second for the second out of the inning. Then with runners at the corners, Duggar laced a 1-2 pitch from Lake Elsinore reliever Jose Torres down the left field line for a triple. The hit scored both Jebavy and Garcia giving San Jose a 6-4 lead.

Jose Morel (1-1) was credited with the win out of the Giants bullpen. Morel pitched 1 1/3 innings of relief and surrendered one run and three hits. The right-hander allowed the tying run to score in the top of the eighth, but stranded the go-ahead tally in scoring position to keep the game tied. Pat Young pitched a perfect top of the ninth inning for his first save of the season.

San Jose jumped out early scoring a run in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead. With one out, Jebavy singled before moving to second on a wild pitch. Hinojosa then lined a single into center plating Jebavy with the first run of the contest.

The Storm answered with a run of their own in the top of the second against Giants starter D.J. Snelten. Franmil Reyes led off with a single before moving to second on Edwin Moreno's groundout. Luis Tejada then hit a chopper up the middle that was misplayed by the shortstop Hinojosa for an error as Reyes came home on the play to tie the game 1-1.

San Jose then reclaimed the lead with a three-run bottom of the third. Cristian Paulino led off with an infield single to shortstop before Johneshwy Fargas drew a walk. A single from Jebavy then loaded the bases with none out. Hinojosa followed by grounding into a force out as Paulino scored to give the Giants a 2-1 advantage. Shaw followed by a lining a double into the left center field gap plating two more runs for a 4-1 lead.

Snelten retired 10 out of 12 Lake Elsinore hitters from the third through the sixth innings, including seven strikeouts. The Storm scratched across a run in the top of the fifth as Trae Santos led off with a double and scored on Josh VanMeter's one-out single to trim the San Jose lead to 4-2.

After Snelten breezed through a 1-2-3 top of the sixth, Lake Elsinore inched closer with a run in the seventh. Consecutive singles from Tejada and Santos started the frame before an RBI groundout from Jose Ruiz brought the Storm to within 4-3. Following the RBI, Lake Elsinore had the potential tying run at third with one out, but Snelten struck out Van Meter and then Morel entered from the bullpen and induced Franchy Cordero to groundout ending the inning.

Morel returned to the mound in the top of the eighth and quickly saw the Storm tie the game as three straight singles from Luis Urias, Javier Guerra and Reyes to begin the frame produced a run. Morel though recovered striking out Moreno, retiring Tejada on a fly out to right and Santos on a soft line out to shortstop to keep the game tied.

The Giants didn't manage a hit after Shaw's third-inning double until Duggar's go-ahead triple in the bottom of the eighth.

Lake Elsinore reliever T.J. Weir (1-2) suffered the loss after he was charged with the go-ahead tally in the eighth inning.

Snelten struck out a season-high nine batters over 6 2/3 innings of work. The left-hander, who received a no-decision, allowed three runs (all earned) and eight hits with no walks during his 103-pitch outing.
