Greenville Drive News Release

Lexington, KY - The Drive may have hit the snooze button one too many times Wednesday morning, as they were routed 12-0 versus the Legends (20-26) in a game that started at 10 AM. Less than 12 hours after handling Lexington for an 8-3 victory, the Drive (19-26) were running on empty, amassing just four hits and a base on balls.

Felix Doubront (0-1), who was making his 2007 debut after enduring an injury in Spring Training, was greeted rudely by the Legends as the southpaw surrendered six runs over the first three innings.

After allowing single runs in the first and second innings, Lexington exploded for four runs on four hits off the Venezuelan. Eric Taylor and Jordan Parraz begin the inning with a single and a double, respectively, before Chris Johnson knocked in both with a single. James Van Ostrand then belted his sixth homer of the year.

Things did not fare any better for reliever Brian Steinocher. After tossing a scoreless fifth inning, the right-hander was drilled for four more Legends runs in the sixth. In the inning Johnson collected two more RBI with a two-out double.

While the Legends batters had their way with the Drive pitchers, Lexington starter Polin Trinidad (2-3) served up a lullaby to the Greenville offense. In seven innings of work, Trinidad allowed just two singles, with the first not coming until the fourth inning when Lars Anderson beat out a grounder to second.

The Legends were able to add insult to injury, plating two more runs in the eighth to round out their offensive attack.

The Drive will look to split the four-game series with the Legends on Thursday at Applebee's Park when they send southpaw Ryan Phillips to the hill. Lexington will counter with right-hander Casey Hudspath.

Following tomorrow's series finale with the Legends, the Drive will travel to West Virginia for a four-game set with the Power before returning home on Tuesday, May 29th. First pitch for the 29th is set for 7:05 PM when the Drive begin their third eight-game home stand of the 2007 campaign. Tickets to all Drive home games can be purchased by visiting www.GreenvilleDrive.com, or by calling (864) 240-4500.

NOTES: SS Kristopher Negron, 1B Lars Anderson, CF Jason Place, and LF Reid Engel each had a hit for the Drive...The Drive are still winless in five chances on Wednesdays...Prior to Wednesday's game, the most runs Felix Doubront had allowed in an outing during his two year career was four, three times in 26 starts.
