Crawdads Stun Intimidators in 8-7 Win

Hickory, NC-The Hickory Crawdads overcame a 6-run deficit to beat the Kannapolis Intimidators, 8-7, Wednesday at L.P. Frans Stadium.

Kannapolis jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the 1st inning. The inning was capped off by Stefan Gartrell's 4th HR of the year. The Intimidators boosted their lead to 6-0 after a solo HR from Archie Gilbert in the 2nd and a solo shot from Francisco Hernandez in the 3rd. Henry Cabrera allowed 6 ER over the first three innings before he was removed.

Hickory began the comeback with 4 runs in the 4th. Kent Sakamoto started the charge with a solo homer, his 4th of the season. Hickory also got RBI hits from Cameron Blair, Angel Gonzalez, and Bobby Kingsbury. The Crawdads trailed the Intimidators 6-4 after 4.

The I's collected a run back in the 6th on a solo blast by Mike Grace, to put Kannapolis up 7-4.

The Dads' plucked a pair of runs back in the 6th on an RBI ground-out by Gonzalez and an RBI sac-fly from Bobby Kingsbury, making it 7-6 in favor of the K-dators.

Hickory tied it up at 7 in the bottom of the 7th on an RBI single from Cameron Blair. The Dads' completed the come-from-behind effort in the 8th. Bobby Kingsbury tripled to left with 1-out. Kingsbury touched home on an RBI sac-fly by Jonel Pacheco . Hickory went up 8-7.

Olivo Astacio came in and worked a perfect 9th, en route to his 6th save in 7 chances. Stephen MacFarland (1-1) picked up the win by working 2 scoreless innings out of the pen. Kanekoa Texeira (3-1) took the loss.

The Crawdads face the Intimidators again on Thursday. The game will be in Kannapolis and is scheduled for a 7:05 start. The Crawdads open up a 4-game homestand against Asheville on Friday, May 25th. There will be fireworks after the game on Friday.
