LOUISVILLE, KY-The Louisville Bats came into Wednesday night's game against the Indianapolis Indians looking to snap their three-game losing streak, but a disastrous two-inning stretch plagued the squad in a 13-5 loss in front of 6,808 fans at sizzling Louisville Slugger Field.

The Indians had 11 batters scoring seven runs off of eight hits in the fifth, highlighted by first baseman Brad Eldred's 439-foot two-run home run to left-center field, scoring third baseman Yurendell de Caster.

Indianapolis added six more runs in the sixth inning, including home runs by right fielder Steven Pearce with a two-run shot and Eldred with his second of the game. Eldred finished his evening 3-for-5 with four RBI, while leadoff hitter Matt Kata went 4-for-6 with a pair of runs.

First baseman Joey Votto led Louisville in hitting, going 2-for-3 with a two-out single in the bottom of the fifth for Louisville, scoring the pitcher, Steve Kelly. He also scored a run in the fourth inning on a Ryan Jorgensen sacrifice fly to center field.

Bats starter Elizardo Ramirez (2-3) lasted 4.2 innings, allowing six earned runs off nine hits in the losing effort. The pitching staff as a whole allowed 19 hits in the three-hour contest.

Indianapolis starter Michael Tejera (7-2) allowed three runs in five innings off seven hits for his fourth consecutive win. Relievers Jonah Bayliss and Brian Rogers combined to shut down the Bats in the final two innings, with Rogers allowing one hit in the ninth.

The Bats are back in action on Thursday evening for game three of the four-game set with Indianapolis. RHP Richie Gardner (3-4, 5.90 ERA) for Louisville and RHP Marty McLeary (4-4, 4.12) are the probable starters for the 7:05p.m. first pitch.
