Charlotte Knights News Release
FORT MILL, S.C. - August 8, 2007 - The Charlotte Knights just could not get it going on a hot August night, losing 7-2 to Richmond. The Braves shutdown the Knights giving up one hit going into the ninth inning. In the 9th trailing 7-0, 1B Casey Rogowski, OF Thomas Collaro and IF Adam Ricks tried for a late comeback but fell just short by 5 runs. Ricks brought in the only two runs for the Knights with a double.
Richmond won the game despite collecting a total of four team errors.
The Braves attacked Knights pitcher Charlie Haeger (5-12, 4.86), who recently returned from a Major League stint in Chicago, as he would give up 9 hits and 3 runs. Pitcher Eduardo Sierra also gave up four hits and four runs all in the top of the ninth inning.
The Knights and Braves will continue their four game series with LHP Heath Phillips (10-7, 4.53 ERA) getting the start for Charlotte and LHP Dan Smith (3-3, 4.84 ERA) taking the mound for Richmond.
