
Bats Fall Apart in Sixth, Lose 10-2

LOUISVILLE, KY-Durham left fielder Justin Ruggiano's three-run blast in the top of the sixth was the boost the Bulls needed as they defeated the Bats 10-2, in front of 9,460 at Louisville Slugger Field.
After the Ruggiano home run, the Bulls tallied three more runs in the inning. Durham went on to add two runs in the top of the seventh, and two runs in the top of the eighth. The Bulls pounded out 14 hits, led by Ruggiano, who had five RBI on the night. First basemen Brent Butler added to the cause, with a 3-for-5 performance.
Bats starter Homer Bailey (6-3), making his second start since being optioned from the parent Cincinnati Reds, picked up the loss. Bailey lasted 5.2 innings, surrendering five runs on four hits, while striking out three. With the loss, Bailey is now 1-1 against Durham this season.
Durham starter Jae Seo (4-1) secured the win, going 7.0 innings, while allowing only one run. Seo surrendered five hits and struck out four.
Louisville collected seven hits on the night. Left fielder Chris Dickerson and catcher Ryan Hanigan led the Bats with two hits apiece.
The Bats play game three of the four-game series tomorrow night. Louisville's RHP Tom Shearn (4-7, 4.28) is set to take on Durham's RHP Mitch Talbot (6-7, 5.21). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
