
Clippers Beat Braves

Columbus, OH- The Columbus Clippers beat the Richmond Braves 6-2 Tuesday at Cooper Stadium. The Clippers blew the game open with three runs in the eighth inning as they gained a split of the four game series.
Richmond took a 1-0 lead in the second on an RBI double by Iker Franco. The Clippers tied the game in the fourth on an RBI ground out by Larry Broadway. Columbus jumped in front in the fifth on a two-run homer by Brandon Watson that gave the Clippers a 3-1 lead. Richmond moved to within a run in the seventh on an RBI single by Jonathan Schuerholz. But Columbus put the game away with three in the eighth. Juan Brito produced a run with a sacrifice fly. George Lombard smashed a two-run homer.
Joel Hanrahan earned the win. Kevin Barry took the loss. Gregor Blanco had two hits for the Braves. Watson and Kory Castro had two hits for the Clippers.
The Braves open their longest homestand of the season (10 days, 11 games) Wednesday at The Diamond vs. the Clippers at 7 PM. Trey Hodges will pitch for the Braves against Brandon Claussen.
