Bats/Bisons Series Cancelled Due to Weather

April 17, 2018 - International League (IL1)
Louisville Bats News Release

With the amount of snow and ice that are present both on the field and throughout Coca-Cola Field, the Buffalo Bisons have announced that they have canceled both their Tuesday, April 17 game and their Wednesday, April 18 doubleheader scheduled against the Louisville Bats.

The cold temperatures that will persist throughout Tuesday and overnight will not allow the snow/ice currently on the field to melt nor allow the ballpark's drainage system to work in full capacity in time to get the field ready for play. With conditions unsafe on the field and in the stands, the Bisons cannot open the ballpark for either tonight's game or Wednesday's doubleheader.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The game originally scheduled for Tuesday night will be made up at Louisville Slugger Field on July 24 when the Bisons come to Louisville. That game will be played as part of a doubleheader, with Buffalo as the technical "home" team, batting second in that game.

The two canceled games mean 2018 will be the first time the Bats fail to play a full season's worth of games since the 2014 season, when its August 30 home game against the Toledo Mud Hens was canceled due to rain.

The Louisville Bats return home for a six-game homerstand starting this Friday, April 20 against the Syracuse Chiefs. Thunder Over Louisville at Louisville Slugger Field takes place this Saturday, April 21, with first pitch set for 2:00. Limited tickets remain available at batsbaseball.com.
