Bats Back Bryce, 9-1

The RockHounds backed an outstanding start from Bryce Conley with a 12-hit attack to earn their fourth straight win, defeating the Corpus Christi Hooks, 9-1, Tuesday night at Momentum Bank Ballpark.

Conley (see "Kibbles & Bits," below) went six innings, allowing one run on three hits and three walks while striking out seven. Nick Highberger (7th & 8th innings) and Austin Briggs (9th) finished a night in which 'Hounds pitching allowed one run on five hits, with three walks and 10 strikeouts.

Marty Bechina led the offense with four runs batted in, matching his career high. Jonah Bride and Jeremy Eierman each had three hits and Chase Calabuig had a pair of RBI.

The RockHounds used the 12-hit night at the dish to take advantage of 11 walks from Corpus Christi pitching, breaking the game open in the fifth. Bride, Logan Davidson and Eierman led off with consecutive sharp singles and, one out later, Calabuig, Devin Foyle and Mickey McDonald drew consecutive bases-loaded walks. Bechina's third RBI of the night capped the inning and pushed the lead to 7-1.

The four straight wins match a season high for the RockHounds and push the club to a season-best three games over .500 (14-11).

Kibbles & Bits

After his first two starts, Bryce Cohen was 1-0, but with a 6.48 ERA. In three starts since, the right-hander from Alpharetta, Georgia, has allowed a total of just four runs on eight hits over 16â..." innings, a 2.20 ERA in that span.

Scary stat: The RockHounds scored nine runs on 12 hits and left 13 men on base!
