Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release

BIRMINGHAM, AL - After losing their first two home games of 2014 to the Jacksonville Suns (3-7), the Birmingham Barons (5-5) battled back to win the series, taking the finale of the five-game set by a 9-1 final.

Nick McCully (W, 2-0) picked up his second straight win to start 2014, with the righty allowing just one unearned run on two hits in five steady innings. Nestor Molina (H, 1) would work two innings of hitless relief, with Parker Frazier finishing off the ballgame with two scoreless innings of relief in a non-save situation.

Jose Urena (L, 0-2) took the loss for the Suns, with the righty allowing three runs (all earned) on four hits in four innings, while walking four Barons and not striking out a single batter.

Just like in Saturday's contest, the Suns scored first on Sunday, plating a run on a sacrifice fly off the bat of J.T. Realmuto in the top of the first. But also just like in Saturday's ballgame, that lead wouldn't hold for long.

The Barons would tie it up in the second and take a 3-1 lead after Trayce Thompson (HR, 1) blasted a two-run homer in the third.

Birmingham would not look back after taking the lead, scoring four runs in the sixth, and adding a run apiece in the seventh and eighth innings.

The Barons would score nine times on 13 hits, despite leaving 11 men on base and being held to three-for-16 with runners in scoring position.

With their series with the Barons in the books, the Suns will head to Chattanooga for a five-game series with the Lookouts starting on Monday night at 7:15. Jacksonville will call upon the righty Anthony DeSclafani (2-0, 3.75), with the Lookouts set to trot out a right-hander of their own in Carlos Frias (0-1, 3.27).

Suns fans can listen to Monday's game on the Suns Baseball Network, 94.1 WSOS-FM or through www.jaxsuns.com, MiLB.com or the Suns iPhone or Android app, beginning at 7:00 p.m. ET for the Memorial Hospital Suns Pregame Show.

The 2014 season of Suns baseball is presented by EverBank, the official banking partner of the Jacksonville Suns. Sponsorships, group outings, and season / individual game tickets are currently available by calling the Suns front office at (904) 358-2846.
