Stars Rally Comes up Short

Huntsville,AL-The Huntsville Stars, the Double-A Affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers rallied late Sunday at "The Joe" but still came up short, falling in game five of their series with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos 7-5. The Stars still took three out of five in the series against the Cincinnati Reds Double-A Affiliate.

The Stars were trailing 7-2 going into the ninth. Jason Rogers started the inning by doubling off the left wall against Blue Wahoo reliever Sean Black. Mitch Haniger followed with a two-run homer to left field for his third homer of the season. It was also the third straight game that Haniger homered in.

The Stars kept chipping away at the deficit. Sean Zarraga singled, for his second hit of the day. Two batters later pinch hitter Shea Vucinich lined an RBI double down the left field line making it 7-5. The Stars chased Black out of the game after he allowed 4 hits on 3 runs.

Fabian Williamson entered and got Hainley Statia to groundout to third. With the tying runner at the plate, Josh Prince struck out to end the game.

Pensacola hit a team record four homeruns, three against Huntsville starter Tyler Cravy(1-1). Donald Lutz hit a two-run homer and solo homerun against Cravy. Juan Silverio also hit a two-run homer against the Stars starter. Silverio's homerun in the second, put the Blue Wahoos up for good.

Yorman Rodriguez hit the fourth and final homerun for Pensacola in the ninth against Casey Medlen.

The Blue Wahoos got an excellent start from Michael Lorenzen(2-0). The right-hander tossed 6.2 innings allowing four hits, while striking out four and allowing two earned runs. The Stars' Nick Ramirez homered against him in the seventh.

The Stars will travel to Pearl, Mississippi Monday night for the beginning of a five game series against the Mississippi Braves, the Double-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. RHP Brooks Hall(0-1, 5.62) will start for Huntsville. Aaron Northcraft(0-0, 0.00) will go for Mississippi.
