Oklahoma City Barons News Release
Oklahoma City Barons (10-3-0-1) at Milwaukee Admirals (7-3-0-1)
Barons Game 15 | Road Game 7 | AHL Game 214
Nov. 13, 2011, 5 pm CST | Bradley Center, Milwaukee, WI Broadcast: KXY 96.1 FM
TONIGHT: The Barons seek a return to the win column after having a franchise-best 6-game win streak snapped last night as they visit the Milwaukee Admirals, AHL affiliate of the Nashville Predators. OKC is tied for the West Division lead with Abbotsford with 21 points. This is the first of 4 games between the Barons and Admirals this season. Both clubs went 3-2-0-1 against the other last year, with OKC winning a shootout, losing a shootout and dropping a game in regulation at the Bradley Center. The Admirals are third in the Midwest, 1 point back of Peoria and 4 behind Charlotte.
OFF THE TOP: Last night's 3-2 home loss to Charlotte snapped OKC's six-game winning streak, the second-longest in the AHL this season behind an eight-game run for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton that also ended last night. OKC has won five straight road games since a season-opening 7-0 setback at Texas. West rivals OKC and Abbotsford share the division lead with 21 points, second-most in the AHL behind St. Johns' 23.
IN THE NETS: Yann Danis had a personal four-start winning streak snapped last night. In his three prior starts, he had allowed just three goals while stopping 90 of 93 shots. Danis made 30 saves in the 3-2 loss, his second against Charlotte to go with a 30-save shutout on Friday. David LeNeveu is 3-0-1 on the season, with all three of his wins on the road, two at San Antonio and the other at Abbotsford.
SPECIALIZATION: The Barons just completed a three-game homestand during which they did not score or allow a power play goal. OKC is 16-for-16 on the penalty kill in the past three games and has extinguished 17 straight times short dating to the last power play goal allowed Nov. 5 at Abbotsford. The Barons went 0-for-11 on the power play in the past three games. Their last power-play goal was an overtime tally by Gilbert Brule in a 4-3 decision Nov. 5 at Abbotsford.
OMARK PROVIDES OFFENSE: Linus Omark scored his first goal of the season in last night's second period. In 5 Barons games since being assigned by Edmonton Nov. 2, Omark has a goal and five assists. He played five games in October for Edmonton without registering a point. After logging one shot on goal in his first three OKC games, Omark has eight in the past 2 games.
NO SOPHOMORE JINX: Second-year left winger Philippe Cornet has already established his career high of eight goals, surpassing the seven he collected in his rookie campaign last year in 60 games. Cornet has four power-play goals, two game-winners and is a team-best 2-for-2 in shootouts.
SCHEDULE HEATS UP: Today ends the Barons' first four-game week of the season. OKC started the week by beating Toronto 3-1 on Tuesday at the Cox Center, followed by Friday's 1-0 win and last night's 3-2 loss, both against Charlotte. This also concludes the Barons' third set of three games in three days. So far, OKC has won the finale of both previous sets of 3-in-3. This is the first of two games this season involving air travel on the day of a game. The other is Dec. 18, when the Barons play a Sunday game at Charlotte after a home game the night before.
RECENT TRANSACTIONS: Defensemen Colten Teubert and Taylor Chorney were assigned by Edmonton on Thursday. Teubert opened the season with OKC before receiving his first NHL promotion Nov. 2. He had one assist in two Oiler games. Chorney split last season between OKC and Edmonton, appearing in 46 Barons games. He was claimed off waivers Oct. 10 by St. Louis and appeared in two Blues games before being re-claimed by Edmonton. Defenseman Dan Ringwald, who played two games for the Barons Nov. 3 and 5, was released from a PTO and returned to the Oilers' ECHL affiliate in Stockton, Calif.
