Lancaster Stormers News Release

For the sixth time in the last seven road games, the Barnstormers failed to score.

In all seven they have gone nine innings without denting the scoreboard.

It has become inexplicable.

Rommie Lewis spun a five-hit shutout late Sunday afternoon as the York Revolution defeated Lancaster, 3-0, at Santander Stadium, sending the Barnstormers to their 11th loss in their last 12 road games and a 4-19 overall road record in 2015.

Kevin Rivers and Yusuke Kajimoto managed two hits apiece for the Barnstormers on Sunday while Dan Coury added the fifth single. Lewis (4-3) walked one and struck out four.

Coury and Rivers stroked consecutive two-out singles in the second inning before Lewis retired Juan Apodaca on a routine fly to center to end the threat. The Barnstormers had a better chance to score in the sixth when Kajimoto singled into center, moved to second on a ground ball and to third on a ground out by Blake Gailen. Brian Cavazos-Galvez launched a fly ball to deep left center, but Nick Fitzgerald caught up to it on the warning track for the final out.

It was Fitzgerald who was at the center of the entire York offense. The left fielder, signed earlier in the weekend, came into the day 6-for-10 and kept his production going.

In the fourth inning, he hit a smash down the third base line off Dan Osterbrock (3-2). Kajimoto made a diving stop but skipped his throw across the infield past Gailen as Fitzgerald dashed for second. Luis De La Cruz followed with a base hit up the middle to produce the run.

The University of Delaware product chimed in with his second home run in the sixth inning, then singled home Andres Perez with a bounder up the middle in the eighth off Chad Beck.

Lancaster sends right-hander Bryan Woodall (1-3) to the mound on Monday evening against lefty Logan Williamson (1-3). Fans may tune into 1390-AM, WLAN; rumba1390.com or the I Heart Radio cell phone app, beginning at 6:15.

NOTES: Lancaster's team ERA for the last 12 games is only 2.14...The Barnstormers have only one extra base hit in these last seven road games in which they have managed a total of 26 hits...Gailen extended an on-base streak to 12 with a walk in the first inning...Rivers is now 12-for-21 on Sunday and has reached base on 23 of his last 54 plate appearances (.426 OBP) overall.
