Three More Added to 'Fish Tank

(Bridgeport, Conn. - June 7, 2015) - The Bridgeport Bluefish announced today that they have acquired right-handed pitcher Chad Povich and infielders Frazier Hall and Matt Burns.

"These three individuals are great ball players," says Bluefish Manager Ricky VanAsselberg. "I worked with Frazier and Matt last year in Grand Prairie, and I managed against Chad while he was with Laredo. I know what they're all capable of, and I know they'll be successful here in the Atlantic League."

Povich joins the Bluefish for his first season in the Atlantic League and ninth of professional baseball. The pitcher began the 2015 season with Laredo of the American Association where he pitched 9.1 innings. Last year with Laredo, he collected a 4.32 ERA with 50 strikeouts in 41.2 innings of work. The 28-year-old was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 42nd round of the 2007 MLB amateur draft out of Dixie State College of Utah. He spent three years within the organization, reaching the High-A Level, before joining the independent ranks with Sioux City of the American Association in 2010. He also spent time with Amarillo and Laredo of the American Association. Chad has a career minor league record of 34-26 with a 4.65 ERA and 467 strikeouts in 489.1 innings of work.

Hall joins the Bluefish for his first season in the Atlantic League and fifth of professional baseball. The infielder began the 2015 season with the Grand Prairie Air Hogs of the American Association, where he appeared in 10 games. Last year with Grand Prairie, he collected a .253 batting average with seven home runs, 31 RBI and 37 runs scored. The 27-year-old was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the 16th round of the 2011 MLB amateur draft out of Southern University and A&M College. He spent two years within the organization before joining the independent ranks with Grand Prairie in 2013. He also spent part of that year with Single-A South Bend (Arizona Diamondbacks) of the Midwest League. In 328 career minor league games, Frazier owns a .269 batting average with 32 home runs, 155 RBI and 161 runs scored.

Burns joins the Bluefish for his first season in the Atlantic League and second of professional baseball. The infielder began the 2015 season with Grand Prairie of the American Association, where he appeared in seven games. The 24-year-old began his professional baseball career with Grand Prairie in 2014, where he slugged four home runs with 17 RBI and 16 runs scored.
