Lancaster Stormers News Release

Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, Elves and Christmas Carolers will be greeting Olympian, NBC Analyst and Quarryville Native, Johnny Weir, as he comes home for a very special Christmas in July with the Barnstormers this Friday, July 31st at Clipper Magazine Stadium. The Shepherd's Light Choir will be singing Christmas Carols for fans throughout the evening.

Johnny will be throwing out a "First Pitch" and signing autographs for fans on the concourse to benefit the Quarryville Fire Company, where Johnny's cousin, Joel Neff, is the Chief.

A Claus Family Reunion is on tap as many members of Santa's family and Santa Claus himself will be in attendance to mark this very special occasion. The Salvation Army will be at the Front and Back Gates of Clipper Magazine Stadium collecting for their 2015 Holiday Drive and ringing their bells.

Johnny was very involved in the creation of his Bobblehead. Johnny selected the colors, the skating position and the biographical presentation on the box.

"We are thrilled to bring a local hero back to Lancaster", Barnstormers' Vice President, Tony DeMarco said, "Johnny's magical career on the ice and in the broadcast booth with his partner, Tara Lipinski, is a phenomenal success story. He has come a long way from the days as a youngster in Quarryville, but he has never forgotten where he came from."

The Barnstormers will also be honoring "A Week Away Foundation" on Friday, July 31st. A Week Away is a non-profit organization whose mission is to finance and coordinate respite weeks for individuals and their loved ones who are dealing with a life-threatening illness -- enabling them to find the peace and energy needed to continue fighting their disease. A Week Away Family will be in attendance on Friday. Johnny will be spending time with the family throughout the evening.

The Lancaster Barnstormers are entering their eleventh season as a member of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.
