York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution clinched another series victory and extended their winning streak to five consecutive games with a 7-0 victory over the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs on Wednesday afternoon at Regency Furniture Stadium. The Revs will go for a second straight series sweep in the finale of the three-game set on Thursday night.

Logan Williamson and two relievers combined on the Revs' second two-hitter in just over a week, while the offense came out red-hot, building an early lead that was never threatened.

Wilson Valdez got things started with a one-out single to right-center in the top of the first and quickly stole second base. After a walk to Eric Patterson, Brandon Boggs lined an RBI single to right-center for the game's first run. With runners at the corners, Crabs starter Brian Baker uncorked an errant pickoff throw to first, allowing Patterson to score on the error, giving York a 2-0 lead.

The Revs added to that lead in the third as Valdez led off with a single to left and again stole second. Valdez advanced to third on a line out to right by Patterson, and came in to score when the return throw to the infield was mishandled.

York erupted for four runs an inning later, chasing Baker (5-7) after the first five batters of the inning all reached safely. Telvin Nash drew a leadoff walk and Salvador Paniagua followed with a single to right to set the table. After a wild pitch advanced both runners, James Simmons ripped an RBI single through the drawn-in infield, past the diving effort of shortstop Grant Zawadski. Simmons stole second forcing the Blue Crabs to again play the infield in, and Jose Constanza took advantage by chopping a two-run single into center. Constanza then stole second on his first opportunity, and scored one pitch later as Valdez rapped another single to right, ballooning the lead to 7-0.

Williamson (5-7) worked seven spectacular innings, allowing just two hits. He walked two and struck out three. The lefty rolled 13 ground outs on the day including two in each of the first six innings, and held an opponent without an earned run for the fifth time this season, nabbing his team-best eighth quality start.

Edward Paredes struck out two batters in a perfect eighth, and Beau Vaughan completed the stingy effort with three fly outs in the ninth, surrendering only a two-out walk.

Notes: The Revs have tossed combined two-hitters twice in the last eight games, doing the same in a victory at Long Island on July 21. The shutout is the Revs' fourth of the year and first on the road. It is their first since Williamson combined on a 1-0 win on June 29 vs. Sugar Land. It is the Revs' second shutout all-time at Regency Furniture Stadium, having also blanked the Blue Crabs in their home park on June 1, 2014. The margin of victory is the Revs' biggest of the season; they had won the previous four games on the current winning streak by a combined five runs. The winning streak is York's longest since a six-game streak, June 27-July 2, 2014. York has also won seven of its last eight overall and is 10-4 over the last 14 contests. The Revs are now 11-8 overall in the second half. The Revs tied a season-high with four stolen bases (also May 17 at Sugar Land). Valdez and Boggs both posted three-hit games to lead the offense while Valdez stole two bases. York righty Matt Neil (2-6, 4.64) faces Southern Maryland right-hander Brian Grening (3-6, 4.71) on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, and on the WOYK mobile apps beginning at 6:45 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
