Barnstormers Lose To One Big Inning

Lancaster Stormers News Release

The York Revolution parlayed three walks, three singles and a hit batter into a five-run third inning to beat the Lancaster Barnstormers, 5-3, Wednesday evening at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

It was York's second straight win over the host Barnstormers and dropped Lancaster to 3-3 on its opening homestand.

Shunsuke Watanabe had retired seven straight before walking Willie Cabrera with one out in the top of the third. Brandon Boggs banged a single into center, and Wilson Valdez walked to load the bases. Watanabe (0-1) also walked Eric Patterson to force home the game's first run. Andres Perez followed with a chopper over the mound. Shortstop Lance Zawadzki reached the ball well behind the second base bag, but his hurried throw on the infield single could not be handled at first base, and a second run scored on the play. Brandon Jones was hit by a pitch to reload the bases, and Bryan Pounds got the final runs home with a solid base hit to left.

Lancaster's bullpen kept the club in the game, spinning 6 2/3 shutout innings on five hits and two walks, but the Barnstormers could not climb all the way back.

The Barnstormers reached Corey Thurman (1-1) for two in the fourth. David Cooper opened the uprising with a one-out walk. Brian Cavazos-Galvez laced a single into left to add a second runner. Henry Wrigley flared a single into right center to load the bases, and Zawadzki cashed in with a two-run single to right.

Zawadzki was also responsible for Lancaster's third run. Wrigley spanked a leadoff single into left off Matt Neil in the seventh inning. Catcher Luis De La Cruz attempted to pick Wrigley off first and fired the ball down the right field line, giving Wrigley second. Zawadzki plated the run with a ground double inside the third base bag.

The Barnstormers added a one-out single by Yusuke Kajimoto, but lefty Leyson Septimo retired Kevin Rivers and Blake Gailen on ground balls to end the threat.

Josh Judy got the side in order around hitting Zawadzki with a pitch in the ninth inning to earn his second save.

The series and homestand conclude with an 11:00 start on Thursday morning. Lancaster will send lefty Matt Packer (2-0) to the hill against right-hander Shawn Hill (0-1). A broadcast of the game will be available on Http://www.ustream.tv/channel/lancaster-barnstormers.
