
Bluefish Shutout Ducks for Third Straight Victory

(Bridgeport, Conn. - May 6, 2015) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (6-5) had six extra-base hits of their 13 hits overall in a 9-0 victory over the Long Island Ducks (6-6) in the middle game of a three game set at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. Starting pitcher Mike Antonini (1-1) dominated Ducks hitters all night long, hurling seven innings of scoreless baseball, allowing three hits, walking one and striking out nine.
The 'Fish took the lead in the second inning on a run-scoring single by Luis Rodriguez, as John Alonso crossed the plate to make it 1-0 Bridgeport, extending Rodriguez's on-base streak to ten consecutive games. The Bluefish added two more runs in the inning on a double play and an error for the early three run advantage. The Bluefish picked up two insurance runs in the fourth inning on a two-run home run off the bat of John Alonso, his second big fly of the season which made the score 5-0. All five runs were surrendered by losing pitcher John Brownell (0-2). The 'Fish put up a picket fence from innings five through eight with single runs in each frame for the 9-0 lead and never looked back. Alonso led the way with three hits for the Bluefish.
Bridgeport goes for the three-game sweep Thursday night, May 7th at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard when they host the Long Island Ducks in the finale of the three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
