Evansville, INâ Scott Barber threw 139 pitches in a complete game victory as Evansville beat the Florence Freedom 7-1.
Barber lowered his ERA on the season three-and-a-half points on the contest from 10.05 to 6.55. He allowed eight hits and one run over the nine innings, walking two and striking out a career high nine.
Cole Hilt and Sean Flynn led the offensive charge for the Otters. Hilt continued his hot hitting against Florence going 3-for-4, raising his season average against the Freedom to .556 in five games. Flynn went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, three RBI and two runs scored.
Evansville started things off in the bottom of the first inning and scored two in the second on a double by Jonathan Ramirez. Following a homer by Florence Chris Williamson in the fourth, Flynn hit his second double of the contest, a bases loaded double to make it a 6-1 game.
Evansville goes for the sweep tomorrow, sending Jeremy Lewis to the mound against Lenny Bays. Lewis is sixth in the league in ERA with a 1.27 mark. Evansville will also try for a 5-1 homestand.
