Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

DAVENPORT, Iowa - For the second straight night, the River Bandits had to play catch-up to add another notch in the win column. Tuesday night they erased an early six-run deficit before blowing past the Cedar Rapids Kernels for a 16-10 win. The Bandits scored in every inning on their way to a thrilling come from behind victory.

Joe Kelly allowed nine runs, eight earned, on 10 hits over 3.1 innings. Despite committing a season-high seven errors, Quad Cities rallied from a large 7-1 hole to get him off the hook for a no-decision. The River Bandits scored a run in each of the first three innings to chip away at the Kernel lead before they exploded for four runs in the bottom of the fourth. Devin Goodwin highlighted the inning with a bases clearing double to put the Bandits right back in the ballgame.

Goodwin struck again with a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth to put Quad Cities in front for the first time 11-10. Goodwin finished the game 3-for-4 with a career high eight RBI and two runs scored.

Three other Bandits finished the game with multiple hits. They were Luis Mateo (3-for-4), Alan Ahmady (3-for-5) and Robert Stock (2-for-5). Ahmady and Mateo also contributed by scoring four times each.

The bullpen shut the door on the Kernels to allow the offense to come back. Chris Corrigan (3-0) worked 2.2 innings and allowed only one unearned run on just one hit to earn the win. Nick Greenwood added two scoreless innings in relief and Aaron Terry finished it off with a prefect ninth.

Bryant George (0-1) was tagged with the loss for Cedar Rapids. He allowed the go-ahead runs to score and was charged with four total while recording just two outs.

The River Bandits will hit the road Wednesday to open a three-game series with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wisconsin. The River Bandits will send lefty Daniel Bibona to the hill against Wisconsin righty Nick Bucci. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
