Kernels Homestand Preview: September 1-3

There's only three home games remaining in the 2010 regular season and the Kernels return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Wednesday, September 1st. Here's a preview of what you can expect these next seven games:

September 1-3 vs. Burlington Bees

The Kernels return to Perfect Game Field and open a three game home series with the Burlington Bees, the Midwest League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. The first 2,000 fans through the gates when they open at 5:30 pm receive a free 2010 Kernels Team Photo, courtesy of Copyworks in Cedar Rapids. It's a Mix 96.5 FM/WMT AM 600 Winning Wednesday, where a lucky fan, age 18 and older, could win $10,000 if the Kernels perform a certain feat in the correct inning. First pitch between the Kernels and Bees is set for 6:35 pm.

The Kernels want to say 'thank you' to all our fans for a great 2010 season on Fan Appreciation Night. One lucky fan, age 18 and older, will win a 1 carat, three stone princess anniversary band, valued at $3,000, from Rogers Jewelers. Enjoy souvenir specials in the Bimm Ridder Diamond Shop and concession specials featuring $1 popcorn and $1.50 peanuts. It's also 100.7 The Fox Thirsty Thursday where 12 oz. draft beer is just $1.50 and 20 oz. bottled soda and water is two dollars all game. Get here when the gates open at 5:30 pm for Fan Appreciation Night and Thirsty Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm.

After 20 seasons, Kernels GM Jack Roeder has decided to retire, so it's Jack Roeder Appreciation Night on Friday, September 3rd. The Kernels will wear special 'Roeder' jerseys that will be sold during the game via a silent auction with the proceeds to benefit a charity of Jack's choice. Be here when the gates open at 5:00 pm as the first 1,000 fans through the gates receive a free Jack Roeder Coffee Mug. Enjoy the music of The Large Midgets, starting at 5:00 pm. It's also Rock 108 Progressive Beer Friday - 16 oz. draft beer is $1 starting at 5:30 and goes up a dollar each hour until reaching full price. Then, following a Kernels victory over the Bees, enjoy another performance by the Large Midgets. First pitch between the Kernels and Burlington is set for 6:35 pm.

Fans, don't forget that if you have unused 10-game Anytime Coupon Books or rain checks, they must be used during the regular season and are NOT good for the Kernels' September 9th playoff game. Call the Kernels Ticket Office at 896-7560 or stop out to redeem your coupons or rain checks before it's too late! The Ticket Office opens at 10 am before each Kernels home game.

Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium Daily Specials!

104.5 KDAT Sunday Family Fun Day: Every Sunday home game, enjoy selected snacks for $1. Fans can get autographs from the Kernels players on the concourse from 1:20 to 1:40 pm. Play Travel Advisors Baseball Vacation Bingo for a chance to win a trip to see an Angels game. And after the game, kids (and adults) can run the bases and play catch on the field. Enjoy the balloon artistry of Papa Balloon on the concourse and visits from Glass Slipper Entertainment's Storybook Princesses.

Mix 96.5 FM/WMT AM 600 Winning Wednesday: A lucky Kernels fan, age 18 and older, could win $10,000 on Winning Wednesday, when the Kernels perform a certain feat in an inning such as hit for the cycle as a team, or the shortstop makes all three outs in the inning.

100.7 The Fox Thirsty Thursday: 12 oz. draft beer is $1.50 all game and get bottled soda and water for $2.

Rock 108 FM Progressive Beer Friday: 16 oz. draft beer starts at $1 when the gates open and goes up $1 an hour until reaching full price.

Tickets for all Kernel home games are available on-line at www.kernels.com ; in person at the Kernels Ticket Office, or by calling 896-7560 during Ticket Office Hours. The Kernels Ticket Office is open from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday and from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday. The ticket office is closed on Sunday, but opens at 11 am on Kernel Sunday Home games.
