Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

BELOIT, Wis. - Shelby Miller (2-3) set the tone on the mound for the River Bandits working five shutout innings and allowing just two hits while striking out five in his start.

Quad Cities plated a pair of runs in the top of the first on a two-run homer by Edgar Lara, part of a three RBI night for him, and never looked back. With the Bandits up 4-0 in the fifth inning, Niko Vasquez homered with a man on to put Quad Cities up 6-0. C.J. Beatty led the way with a 4-for-4 game and a run and an RBI. Matt Adams chipped in with a 3-for-5 game with an RBI.

The Bullpen took over after the fifth and picked up where Miller left off. Michael Blazek allowed only one hit and struck out three over two innings. Dan Calhoun and Aaron Terry each pitched a shutout inning to close out the game. Edgar Ibarra (4-7) took the loss, allowing six runs on nine hits over 4.2 innings.

The Bandits go for the series sweep Saturday night when they send right-hander Deryk Hooker to the mound against righty Michael Tonkin. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. at Pohlman Field in Beloit.
