
Bandits offense hit high-water marks

Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
The River Bandits scored a season-high 11 runs in the fifth inning after already leading the game 7-1 entering the inning. Quad Cities went on to win the game 20-2.
The Bandits set a season-high in hits (20), runs, runs in an inning, and largest margin of victory. Offensively, every starter had a hit in the game.
Leading the charge on offense was Cody Stanley, who went 4-for-5 with a double and five RBI. Starlin Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a triple and four RBI. Ronny Gil went 4-for-7 with three runs scored in the leadoff spot. Michael Swinson went 2-for-3 while scoring three runs with three walks. Despite only having one hit, Virgil Hill also had a huge impact and went 1-for-6 with a two-run homer and three total RBI. Colin Walsh was 1-for-5 with three RBI, two of them coming on a two-RBI double. Jonathan Rodriguez went 2-for-3 in the game with two walks and two runs scored.
Bandit starter Zach Russell (2-6) went six innings allowing just one run (unearned) on two hits. Russell didn't allow a hit until the fourth inning. Russell walked two and tied a season -high with seven strikeouts in the game. Ryan Copeland (1) replaced Russell and went three innings allowing one run on two hits while striking out five.
Russell was opposed by Great Lakes starter Ryan Christenson (5-5). The left-hander went just 3.2 innings allowing a season-high seven earned runs on nine hits while striking out four. He also walked two in the game. Michael Downe came into the game in the fourth and went 0.2 of an inning, allowing nine runs on seven hits, while walking three.
The River Bandits continue the series with Great Lakes on Saturday. Bandits right-hander Boone Whiting (0-0, 1.83) will oppose Loons right-hander Garrett Gould (6-2, 1.68). First pitch is set for 7 p.m. at Modern Woodmen Park.
